I wasn't sure whether it was the stress of exams, the pressure of trying to swerve my life in a direction or that they taste soo god damn good but I have recently found a taste for Mochas (hot chocolate and coffee) and slightly more worryingly Bailey's on ice. Am I just becoming more comfortable with myself? Don't think my girlfriend Charlotte would agree with this. I dont think she has ever bought so many Baileys before!
When I was in junior school and we had those 6 week summer holidays it seemed like a life time off school. Its 6 weeks until I leave for Nepal and for some reason 6 weeks does not seem very long at all. The list of things to get done is probably longer than the disseration I need to write and is growing every minute.
Now, despite knowing how important the next few weeks are I am still being consumed by climbing. I feel that fighting this could just increase stress levels through the roof, I could be drinking Appletinis with a Malibu and coke chaser before Easter if I'm not too careful.
Guess I'll have to find the 'happy medium' if that actually exists.

Revision Vs Climbing
Twenty-ten.......
After starting the New Year with one mother of a hangover thanks to the public house over the road and a slightly merry Mum feeling generous at the turn of a decade, I had a most uneventful January 1st.
What has the first week held for me then:
Running- I have been running again and loving it as much as I did pre-IT band (right leg) spazzing out. Its been great, although slightly arduous trudging through ankle deep snow in bitterly cold weather but what matters is my leg is holding out.
Revision- As i'm in third year now I feel more obliged to revise. This, however, does not mean I actually do any. I've been slowly plugging away at my Hypoxia mind map. Who'd of thought being super fit could reduce your Vo2Max at sea level never mind 4000metres... exercise induced arterial hypoxemia in endurance trained athletes (Dempsey & Wagner, 2006)!! Very exciting stuff.
Climbing- More excitingly is my Personality module..... narcississm and the oedipus complex. How convenient that these 2 core topics are also classic highballs at Froggatt Edge, great excuse to go try them... Had a great day out with the Hamer Brothers back from their Siurana trip to Froggatt. Plenty of pads and plenty of psyche = great day despite the drip - drip - drip of snow followed by the instant freezing of anything and everything, including my socks!
All in all a not too shabby start to this year.
Also back on the running note my brother proposed a 24 hour race at the start of August as a pair. I think the general gist was that either one of us is running and we have to go as far as we can in 24 hours. I'm not sure how but he really sold it to me.......

Miracle on the A53
25 miles of diesel in the tank yet Hans-Peter, the most temperamental motor vehicle in the history of locomotion manages to bang out 45 miles. I thought I was going to be spending an evening in the back 1 night too early. So, Hans gets to Leek, pick up Mulcahy, sleep at Charlottes (Thank you mother and father Hudson), pick Dan up from Sheffield onto the Cliff or Alms.
Now, when you arrive at a bone dry almscliffe with a cool, gentle breeze blowing over it you can only expect one thing...... mint conditions, however, they were toss. Not too fret though and we move on to the County.
First stop, Kyloe- wow, what a lovely spot. Good days bouldering with some kyloe classic ticks. Next stop Manzils of Morpeth, ye what. Yup, met up with a friend from uni and had a tasty tasty indian followed by some scrabble and beer. Onto to Shaftoe with sufficient wind to power Hans Peter around the globe. Poor poor conditions at Shaftoe, would have probably been more appropriate to have a pair of 'pons and axes.
Slipstones.... Not sure exactly how we ended up here but we did and managed to salvage a day from nowhere with a brilliant afternoon session.
Message to self- I think I have an mild addiction to coffee.

First Post...
Hi there, Welcome to my blog.
I'll hopefully be posting about my uni life, climbing exploits, any videos I've made and just general ramblings.
Having eaten twice my body weight in cheese on Christmas Day I'm feeling considerably healthier today. Not sure how long this will last as my brother, mother and myself are heading to Uncle's and Auntie's for the usual Boxing family get together. No doubt there will be copious amounts of amazing food!
Weather permitting there will be a North Yorkshire hit tomorrow followed by my first trip to the County, had a quick watch of classic 'Slackjaw' DVD 'Stick It' to get the juices flowing.
